It is our mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song!
The Montgomerys have now celebrated over 20 years in the Southern Gospel Music field. With 4 vocalists, and a 3 piece band, (drums, keyboard w/bass and rhythm guitar), the Montgomerys usually fill about 75-90 dates per year. This family group calls Johnson City, TN, their home.
The Montgomerys consists of dad- John, mom- Norma, 2 kids - Jerry & Amy, and grandons – John and Michael. Amy’s husband, Terry, plays drums and occasionally sings as well. Much of the material that the group uses is comprised by group members. Amy Montgomery-Belisle, Jerry Montgomery, and John Montgomery write several of the songs that the group sings. God has truly blessed this family. Jerry of the group states, “We have seen many souls come to know Jesus and lives changed as a result of our ministry. We give all the credit to Jesus Christ, for without Him we are nothing. However, through Him, and by Him and in Him, we can say like Apostle Paul, “I can do all things.”
Although the group began in 1982, they were not really classified as an official “group” until the early 90’s when John gave up the church he was pastoring to go and minister with his family. In 2002, The Montgomerys released their first nationwide single to Southern Gospel radio, “God’s Not Dead In My House”. The song did fairly well, charting in the top 200 across the nation. Also in 2002, The Montgomerys recorded their first Live Project – CD, cassette, DVD, and video - entitled “20th Anniversary LIVE”, in which another song was released nationwide, “I’m a Witness”, written by Jerry.
Through the years much has changed, as far as group personnel is concerned, and Norma has had some sickness, causing a small period of time when The Montgomerys had to slow down. However, when asked why the group continues to persevere, John Montgomery says, “We have much to do, and not much more time left before Jesus comes back to get us, so we must keep going on for the Lord despite what others do or say.”
Some behind the scenes people help promote and support this ministry. David Montgomery, the eldest Montgomery son, pastors the home church where the Montgomerys attend, Cherokee Community Freewill Baptist Church, in Johnson City, TN. The youngest Montgomery sibling, Karen, assists with just about anything and everything we ask her to, but mainly helps with our product. The eldest of Amy and Terry’s children, John Charles Belisle, also sings a song during the program. For the past three years, Michael, John and Norma’s eldest grandson sings harmony and does a fine job taking the slot that Norma filled, allowing her to sing a few songs as she is able. Michael has a lovely wife named Sarah, who helps maintain some of our online accounts. Michael and Sarah have two beautiful sons, Christian and Brayden.
Fresh off the heels of their latest chart song, “I’ve Made My Choice,” and recent singles, “Nobody Every Loved Me Like Jesus” and “I’m Taking Me Back”, the latest single from the Montgomerys was “Protected Still”, which did quite well at radio stations. With an enthusiasm for the Lord, and the anointing of His Holy Spirit, this family is ready to work for God, leading others to know Him
